Nowaday, film industry grow quickly producing the various types of movies. Amusing movies are watched by a lot of people who look for relaxation or humourous moments. In the other hand, serious movies are designed to make people think. In my opinion, I prefer to watch serious movies because of their useful information and real life experiences.
First, serious movies give the audiences some meaningful theories to think. After watching these kinds of movies, peopel can acquire something valuable from the thinking and then keep it in mind for a long time. For example, I enjoy watching the movie named Flipped. The film narrates a pure puppy love of two main characters living next door. It reminds me that I need to live life to the fullest each day, protect things I love and fight against the bad. It is also the message for anyone who always judge people by their appearance instead of their soul. I was deeply touched. Serious movies give me a chance to learn something which maybe turn out to be a necessary supplement to what I learn from the textbooks.
Second, serious movies help me gain some experiences which are not appear in my real life before. By imaging myself to be in the plot of the movie, I may get to know how to deal with many different situations. I have the opportunity to think whether the characters act right or not. And finally I will have our own conclusions which can benefit my real life.
Third, although entertain movies bring me happy moments, they don’t last long. After all, I still face up to my own situations which I do not get well prepared when watching the entertain movies.
To sum up, amusing movies can help people release their life pressure, but I’m convinced that the benefits of serious movies overweigh those of amusing movies. Therefore, I would like to watch serious movies.
Hi Qhuong, I thought your essay started off very strong, but the quality seemed to diminish near the end. Your first body paragraph was very good, but your other two were a little weak. It might be a good idea to continue your example through the other two paragraphs, stating what experiences you gained vicariously through the Flipped movie and how Flipped remained with you a long time. (Though I am not sure that Flipped would really qualify as a “serious movie” - “puppy love” implies amusing rather than serious - I am thinking of movies like Citizen Kane or The Seventh Seal. Your writing was clear, but you did have some errors in grammar and usage. Overall, I would rate this a 3.5 out of 5.
