Then how do native speakers differentiate between going to the toilet to urinate and going to the toilet fo defecate?

Pee or poo/poop “Do you have to pee or poop?”
#1 or #2 “Do you have to go #1 or #2?”
Personally in our house we use the phrase “big job” for defecate.
“I have to do a big job, I may be gone awhile.” :smile:

I am sure there are hundreds of slang terms for “pee”. “Take a leak” or “take a whiz” may be the most common. I have always liked “Drain the main vein.” My dad always said “I have to go see a man about a dog.” I never really understood that one!

We also use terms like ONE or TWO; FIRST call or SECOND call. PEE is also heard used these days. Many people say: I want to use the toilet/restroom. (It is a delicate issue though)

Exactly, one does not usually explicitly announce exactly what one plans to do in the bathroom!
