In my hometown, the summer is hot, winter is cold, warm spring and cool autumn. The four seasons are clearly cut. i want to express this, will i say distinct or distinctive seasons?
and how to differentiate these two words? thanks.
Hi Florawong
You are referring to four distinct seasons. (clearly separate and different)
You can talk about what makes one of them distinctive – let’s say autumn – if you talk about the things that are typical and/or special only for autumn. In my area, for example, one of the things that is distinctive about autumn is that the leaves change color, and then fall off the trees.
