dispassionate/ clear-sighted/ preoccupation

Would you tell me your opinion regarding the interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentence?

Unfortunately it is hard to see how tutors can become tutors in the real sense of the word unless they are prepared to become deeply involved (though not so involved as to be unable to be dispassionate and clear-sighted) in the interest and preoccupations of the children.

dispassionate = unprejudiced, fair-minded, unaffected by strong emotion or prejudice, even-handed

clear-sighted = having sharp clear vision

preoccupation = main concern

Thanks for your efforts.

I understand it this way: tutors should do thier best to help children, preserving at the same time a cool judgment. In other words they shouldn´t let thier emotions overwhelm them.

Hi Pechorin,

Thank you for your kindness.
