Difference between "upcoming" and "forthcoming"

Dear everyone,

Can you anyone tell me about the difference between “upcoming” and “forthcoming” and on what circumstances, it can be used.

Thanks

Hi,

They both mean the same and describe an activity that is about to happening or that is happening in the near future. ‘Upcoming’ is used in American English more than in British English. It is often used to describe cinema or TV programmes that you will soon be able to see on your television or at your cinema.

I think ‘forthcoming’ can also mean ‘frank/honest’ as in ‘you should be more forthcoming on this question’.[YSaerTTEW443543]
