difference between ATM and cashpoint

Excuse me,

could you please explain the difference between ATM and cashpoint. At the internet I had found that ATM is an American and cashpoint is a british word. Which word is more often used and is it correct?

Hi Sspike,

I would say that both are used without any signficant difference. ATM stands for Automated Teller Machine. The other word that I know is ‘cash machine’.
