‘Lunch’ is not a time word, any more than ‘university’ is.
I went to university last year.
I went to lunch yesterday afternoon.
At lunch, I met my friends.
At university, I made many friends.
Hi Siva,
‘At lunch’ suggests that you are in the middle of eating lunch as in: Fred can’t speak to you now because he’s out of the office at lunch.
‘For lunch’ suggests either for the purpose of eating lunch or what you eat when you have your lunch as in: We’re stopping work now and going for lunch and I hope they have a good selection of dishes for lunch.
