defer trust - computers

Hello,
What does the phrase “to defer trust” mean? It comes from IT and is used in contexts like:
REFEREE (software) allows a user to defer trust – to authorize privileged credentials to decide the acceptability of another credential.
or:
To restrict remote authentication and thereby defer client trust to the database, set the init.ora (Oracle9i control file) database configuration parameter in the following manner: REMOTE_OS_AUTHENT = FALSE
I’ll be grateful for any hints.

To defer trust to a person/thing means to let that person/thing make a decision on whether to trust a third party or not.

If you defer client trust to the database, the database will check a client’s credentials and not you. You entrust the duty of checking credentials to the database.

Thanks a lot, Our Tort System!
