Courage and determination (is/are)

Could you please tell me which one is correct?

1- His courage and determination b [/b]going to make him one of the most noted social workers in the town.

Yes,Tom,Guest’s answer is right.

Dear Amy

What is your opinion about the same?

I was just wondering that if we looked at “courage and determination” as one characteristic, “is” would not sound wrong. What do you think?

Hi Tom

Third time’s a charm? Third time lucky?

It would be correct to use are: two nouns connected by and = plural.
