What do you make of the following statements? Do you agree or disagree with them?
- Exports per capita, Gross National Income per capita and innovation all correlate positively with English proficiency.
- English proficiency levels are evolving at different rates in different countries, including a few countries with declining English skills.
- Europe as a whole has the highest proficiency in English, while the Middle East averages the lowest.
- Women speak English better than men on average.
I don’t think I can agree to all, particularly 1 and 4.
Well, those statements are taken from EF English Proficiency Index - Wikipedia and I think that EF is promoting colonialism with their so-called ‘English Proficiency Index’ and I find the entire concept wrong on so many levels.
I do not take Wikipedia always for granted, Torsten.
Regardless of what you think of Wikipedia, it’s a fact that EF exists and that they have been running their EF Proficiency Index since 2011.
