What’s the meaning of honoured? Because I know only ‘someone is respected and admired’ and ‘to feel very proud and pleased (to do)’. In the first case we use with or for.
Perhaps smb can let him express so,it isn’t wrong but of course we had better say smth like "I’m proud "(in this case we use to do,as you have already written or to be proud of smb or smth, also there is an expression to be proud in being Americans, for instance.
Anyway,we can’t say to be honoured at (we use by or with)as it isn’t only grammaticaly incorrect but also the meaning of the sentence is spoilt.
I’m a new member. Actually I have some doubts on the usage of the English Grammar and I would like to put forward my questions today. However, I have a great shock & feel so disgusting & sick when I saw those sexual pictures posted by ‘esaniyansws’ . Those pictures spoil my mood. Can someone tell me what happened & do something about it? I hope this will not happen again at our ESL Forums. Thanks.
Many thanks for joining our forum. As far as I can see our forum is spam-free and of course we appreciate any help to keep it that way. We look forward to your grammar questions.
Therefore “I felt very honoured to have the opportunity” … or indeed “I felt very honoured in having the opportunity”
and on this point …
There is great confusion as to when to use opportunity and possibility.
e.g.
What is the difference between
We have the possibility.
We have the opportunity.
(smile)
This should get everyone thinking and unless it comes before, Ill give two months before I give the answer. Maybe someone can push this to a new thread …
Maybe we should start some form of competition here, the winner gets … um "the possibility to by me a Porsche or the opportunity to buy me a Porsche … Now what else do I need (giggle)?
Do a job you love to do and you will never have to work a day in your life …
