The court has returned a verdict in my favour.
I was not recommending him for the job. / I was not recommending that the job is suitable for him. (These are not the same but I don’t know which you mean.)
Beeeneees,
Can I say : “I do not recommend him for the job.” in stead of “I was not recommending him for the job.”?
If it is right, how "What wine do you recommend us? " is wrong?
Please explain to me the grammar nuances involved?
Thanks.
Once again you are making the error of assuming that a structure is transferable in all contexts.
‘I do not recommend him for the job’ is fine. You are recommending him for something. (He is the subject of the recommendation)
‘What wine do you recommend us’ is wrong because you are not recommending yourselves. Someone else is recommending the wine to you. (The wine is the subject of the recommendation)
This is okay:
‘Please recommend us for the job.’ (You are the subject of the recommendation)
I don’t think you can say so.
But, you may say: I am waiting for him. OR I am waiting for him to talk to me. [You can wait forsomeone and awaitsomething]
Absolute I agree with me sir may the almighty the maker of the heaven and earth bless you in Jesus Christ name thank you. I never promise you but I will see what may I going to do!
Many thanks.
