Hi, could in the following sentence the definite article the be used too?

… As in the preceding financial year, all three business segments contributed to overall revenue, which rose to … EUR.

I mean, what if the sentence read:

… contributed to the overall revenue, which rose…

You can also use “revenues” and instead of “overall”, the word “total” would be far more typical.
