Contrast vs contradiction

Dear teachers,

In grammar, how to distinguish clearly the meaning of contrast and contradiction? Please give me examples.

Quoc

Contrast is a sharp difference: the red roofs make a pleasant contrast against the blue sky; after the Mozart let’s hear some jazz by way of a contrast.

Contrasting colours are colours which are very different.

Now contradiction is ‘saying the opposite’. Contradictory is ‘incompatible (which cannot fit together)’, ‘inconsistent’ or ‘which says the opposite’: we had contradictory opinions on the subject.
