clear to me v.s. clear for me

Hi,

When you want to tell somebody that you understand something, what turn of phrase would you pick:

  1. The matter is clear to me
  2. The matter is clear for me

Thank you in advance !

Hi,

I would suggest: The matter is clear to me.

‘For me’ gives the idea of ‘to my advantage’, which doesn’t really make sense in that sentence.
