Children today play very violent games. This must be reason for the increase in violence and crime in most major cities of the world. What are your opinions on this?
The problem with the growth in the number of crimes committed by children is very notorious. At the same time, I can support this position only partly, and there are several arguments which prove the fairness of my words. From my point of view, this issue includes many aspects which influence children’s behaviour. For example, the problem with families where conditions for children’s upbringing are awful, and also the situation with strained relationships among people in society. Finally, it is important to outline that in many cases the popularity of violent games among children is only the consequence of bad relationships between children and their own parents.
First of all, families where children are not put on the first place are not able to provide a good upbringing. The problem is that children are leaded by parents’ model of behaviour which is a pattern for them. This is the reason why in many cases, in families where parents lead antisocial behaviour children become so violent.
Secondly, it is the surrounding world which influence very significantly children’s outlook. It is no secret that even very honest and kind children can be involved in the criminal world by doubtful friends. The book “Oliver Twist” written by Charles Dickens provides us with a remarkable example. In this novel the main personage Oliver Twist was provoked to commit crimes by offenders whom surrounded him.
Moreover, in many cases children decide to play violent games because of some circumstances. In fact, for many parents it is easier to purchase several computer games for their children than to have a conversation with them. In other words, these parents walk away from their obligations but they do not understand that they put in a danger their own children.
In conclusion, it is sensible to make a remark that violent games are not the main factor which has negative effect on children’s behaviour because there are other much more severe causes, such as a bad upbringing, and dangerous social environment. At the same time, it has become a widespread practice when the popularity of computers games among children is only the consequence of peculiar and irresponsible parents’ attitude to their children.
