Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Children should only study or play and don’t have to do household chores.
Nowadays, every individual encounters many formidable responsibilities to accomplish at work, home, and university. In this regard, there is a long-standing discussion among academicians about whether children should learn responsibility by participating in household chores from early ages or should only concentrate on their education. Some people are the leading proponents of the claim that they should study and play with their peers since they experience a critical age. However, I firmly believe that they should do household chores to learn many valuable lessons. In the following paragraphs, I will elaborate on my viewpoint through three noticeable reasons.
It is no secret that being responsible is one of ability that everyone should learn from their parents. Doing household chores for children contributes to efficient learning of responsibility. Take a girl as an example. She should clean his bedroom before she goes to her favorite singer concert. If she does not do her duty, her parents could not let her do her favorite activity. On the other hand, if she accomplishes her task, they could reward her with an amount of money to encourage her to be responsible for all of her duties.
Psychologically speaking, when a child participate in household chores activities, she realizes that how difficult is these tasks despite the fact that everyone believes that they are easy to do. So, they appreciate their parents’ efforts for raising them. For instance, if a mother asks her children to help her in cooking a dinner, children will learn the difficulty of cooking although it seems a rudimentary task. Besides, they will learn many valuable lessons such as teamwork. Finally, the mother could strengthen her bond with her daughter through sharing their problems while they are cooking together.
It goes without saying that many children move out of their family’s house when they become mature to be able to live independently. Household chores could be a practice for their future and prepare them for living without the help of their parents. They learn many far-reaching lessons such as cooking, cleaning the house. So, they could transfer such experiences to their future. A survey on effect of doing household chores in the childhood on success of children in the future has revealed that the possibility of success of these young children could be increased up to 20%.
To wrap it up, all aforementioned reasons lead us to the conclusion that participation in household chores accounts for learning many valuable skills such as independence and responsibility and decrease the probability of failure in the future. Furthermore, no one could underestimate the profound effect of being responsible and independent on shaping a promising future. So, we should encourage children from young ages to help in household chores while they focus on their academic studies.
