'cause of' vs 'cause for'

Please explain difference between ‘cause of’ and ‘cause for’.
Unemployment is a major cause of poverty.
Unemployment is cause for poverty.
Are these two sentences correct?

In this case it should be “cause of”.

“cause for” is usually reserved for the case when something prompts someone to behave or feel in a certain way. For example, “Their arrival was cause for celebration”, “There is no cause for alarm”.
