Can you owe money to a real bank?

.
.
Man: How much do you need?
Woman: Oh, 5 dollars. I pay you back.
Man: Oh, you don’t have to do that. You can keep it.
Woman: Oh, no, no, as soon as I get a chance to get to the bank, I pay you back.
I just want to borrow some money.
Man: Borrow?
Woman: Yes. To borrow means to take some money from someone and then pay it back later.
Man: Oh, so I borrow you this five dollars?
Woman: No, I borrow some money. You lend it to me. You’re the lender and I’m the borrower.
Man: I’m lending you 5 dollars and you’re borrowing 5 dollars.
Woman: That’s right. And now that I borrowed 5 dollars from you, I owe you 5 dollars.
Man: You owe me, and I owe you. How do you spell this “I owe you”? Ha, ha, ha.

Woman: Well, when you owe someone some money you often write an I.O.U. Like this. You see? I.O.U.

Man: But that’s not how you really spell “I owe you”, is it?
Woman: No, that’s just a short way of writing it. You actually spell it like this. I owe you, or I owe Chips five dollars.
Man: So you give me this “I owe you” in exchange for the 5 dollars.
Woman: Exactly, to show that I owe you 5 dollars, or that I owe it to your cooky jar bank.

Man: Oh, I get it. Can you owe money to a real bank?

Woman: Oh, sure. I borrow from the bank all the time; the bank is always lending me money.
Man: Really?
Woman: Of course. That’s how banks make money, by lending you money.
Man: Well, how can they make money by lending you money?
Woman: By charging you interest.
