Can I use "as" like " be known as = be famous

In this sentence can I use “as” like " be known as = be famous for" ?

“Marx is known as his honesty.”

‘To be known as’ means to be/to be called and is usually followed by a name, a description of someone’s character or of their deeds and achievements. Yet someone can be known for something. Therefore, you can say “Marx is known for his honesty” or “Marx is know as an honest man”.

If you say “Marx is known as his honesty”, it means that Marx is his honesty, which wouldn’t make much sense.

Thanks Cochinta a lot.
I like your explanation because it helps me much. Thanks.
