Yes, I think this phrase is still used in modern English. Maybye @tim_m or @Tamar, Marc, Alan can comment on this question too? How often do you use or hear the phrase?

Sure, it’s still used. Though I can’t remember the last time I’ve used it myself. I would suggest using this with people you don’t know, as it can come off as very polite (maybe overly polite). A more common phrase you hear nowadays is: ‘I appreciate it’ OR ‘I appreciate you.’ You can even drop the pronoun and just say: ‘Appreciate it’ OR ‘Appreciate ya.’

I agree with Tim and Torsten.

You can also say: ‘That’s very kind of you.’

Hi Torsten,

I agree with Tim and Marc. I wouldn’t say anything different!

Looking at the expression from the formative classification of sentences, I tend to say that it is redundant, for we may say ‘Very kind of you.’ or ‘How kind of you!’ which when changed into an assertive becomes Very kind of you.
