By any chance vs To happen to

Hi,

I would like to know if the following sentences are both correct:

  1. Are you a native English speaker, by any chance?
  2. Are you happen to an English native speaker?

Thanks in advance.

  1. OK.
  2. I think you mean “Do you happen to be a native English speaker?”

Yes Dozy, I meant that. (Honestly I don’t know why I inverted “native” and “English” in the second sentence.)

I wish you a good day.
