In the movie Mission to Venice there is a scene where Michael and his friend Giuseppe are in the motorboat. Michael asks Giuseppe about a light.

Michael: Say this thing doesn’t give/get very much light, does it?
Giuseppe: Ah, yes, but for lovers it’s more romantic.

Does Michael say doesn’t give or doesn’t get? Logically, it should be “give” I think.
And what does Giuseppe say after for? Lovers?

It’s hard to understand the first one clearly, but ‘give’ is the only one that makes sense.

The second one is more clear. He says ‘lovers’.
