This is a popular question in the sense of ā€˜ingā€™ or ā€˜infinitiveā€™ and my answer is invariably to use ā€˜ingā€™ for a general use and ā€˜infinitiveā€™ for a specific use but fundamentally they are the same: it isnā€™t necessary for you to come back.
