both o the people who met him
both of the people who are going to meet with him
both of the people who will be meeting with him

Excuse me sir, I know that “both” refers to two persons or objects. Do “both of the people” mean “two of the people”?

Both of the people means there are two people and the sentence ‘both of the people’ is part of refers to each of them.

In my view, both the people, both the persons, both of them etc will be more natural than both of the people.
