Hello!
I would like to know when the verb ‘to boast’ is used with the preposition ‘to’ and when with ‘of’. For example, ‘She is always boasting of her daughter.’ is it correct or not?
Who could give me some examples of sentences using the verb ‘to boast’. Is it the same with ‘to praise’ and ‘show off’ when used in context?
Thank you for your time!
boast to ‘someone’ - tell ‘someone’ something boastful.
He is always boasting to his friends about how much money he has.
boast of ‘someone’ - praise ‘someone’ to a third party.
He always boasts of his daughter, who is doing really well in University. (Boasts about his daughter to other people).
‘She is always boasting of her daughter’ is not quite correct. That should be:
She is always boastful of her daughter
or
She is always boasting about her daughter.
