BMW 307i and the Audi A8 3.2 are pitted against the Mercedes S350...

Hi Huong,

I think that there is no reason to give up when the biggest part of the work is done!

My sentences:

Best wishes.

Yuri

P.S. I can’t load Java yet. So sorry!

Hi Yuri,

Sorry I was absent for a while: I have been away from home for a couple of days. I’m back late tonight so I’ll continue our “job” tomorrow. We won’t certainly give up

I’m sorry you haven’t yet solved your problem with installing Java…

Thank you very much for everything and pass my big “hello” to Marina for me - what a nice name !

Goodnight,

Huong.

Hi Yuri,

You have done a great job !!! Your sentences seem to be quite perfectly correct. I just have a bit of doubt about “NMI” (might be MMI ?) and “push-not” (push-knot?)…but I’m not self-confident enough and prefer to receive corrections & comments from you and others.
Here are my sentences:

Please correct them as usual, thank you !
We are going to finish … let me reveal the result of the competition : the winner is the Mercedes, the Audi ranked 2nd, and the BMW is the 3rd…At least here I’m sure

Enjoy your turm,

Huong.

Hi Huong,

Your last contribution was gigantic and now we are almost at the end of our task. Everything was OK except a couple of inexact moments that I managed to notice:“it’s still not as intuitive as the Audi’s approach, however the seat adjustment controls”, "pretty much everything", “the trailer hitch” and “takes some ‘getting-used-to’ as does the eye-drive”.

My sentences need your corrections too:

Huong, I,d like to give you the honour to complete this job. I think you deserve it!

Good luck,

Yuri

P.S. It was severely cold at my place in the morning. The temperature reached 45 degrees below zero. I had to drive to Irkutsk and my Scoda passed that exam with the excellent mark.

Hi Yuri,

Thank you very much for your corrections, I’d have never caught “getting-used-to” without your help ! And many thanks by heart for giving me the honour to complete this challenging job, you are really a gentleman !
Regarding your last sentences let’s discuss the following…As long as I understand :… respectIVE part…, It’s AS if the engineers were thinking “Why MAKE IT simple…”; in the BOUND FOR the premium class CUP…; Slight distance; IT SHOWS it strengthS… Please check them again.

And here are the last 2 sentences:

I’m sorry I still need your corrections again !
After your corrections, what do you think if we put all the Report in order from the beginning to the end and ask (native speakers) for a final check ?

Huong.

P.S Well done your Scoda and its driver  I can hardly imagine how to run on the road under such a low temperature !

Hi Huong,

At last we’ve done it! It was quite a job! There were some mistakes and disappointments but there were many positive moments, and I think that we have a right to say, “We’ve won”.

As for me, I think my listening skills have improved and I can hear native speech a little bit better. Dear Torsten, thank you for your great idea!

Huong, I like your idea about checking our job but it is so time consuming! If you feel like getting it in order I will be for it.

Thank you for your responce on my voice message on the “Weather topic”. I managed to record my voice in Irkutsk using my son’s computer but at home my computer got out of order. Unfortunately, solving this problem will take some time. Surely, I’ll keep my promise about the song “The Sacred Baikal!” Now I’m using my friend’s computer and I can’t send you a voice message.

Now let us return to our main task. You’ve done your part almost perfectly save 2 or 3 moments. The missing words are “while displaying”. I think there should be “excellent safety”.

Thank you for your corrections of my sentences. That time I’ve done too much mistakes.

Huong, it was a great pleasure to work with you. I think nothing makes friends better but the work done together:)

Best wishes,

Yuri

Hi Yuri,

We managed to finish our “exercise” finally…I’m sure there are still some mistakes to be found out but at least we are glad we have fulfiled a not-that-easy assignment. I’ve contributed just a little bit in comparision to what you have done !
Here below is the whole Report if you want to listen again or if someone else wants to check it.
Thank you for this useful experience, I really enjoyed sharing it with you

Huong.

Once again we’re testing the crown jewels of German automotive engineering. The BMW 307i and the Audi AA 3.2 are pitted against the Mercedes S350.
In the handling tests the front wheel drive A8 remains the standard against which the others are judged. Its capable handling and its 260 horse power engine make it almost sporty between the pylons.
The 7 series is not quite as fleet-footed but it’s still very competent through the cones. Of the three cars this one represents the compromise between sportiness and comfort. The S350 is tops in terms of comfort.

Auto-motoring sport has yet to test to more comfortable automobile. The 3 premium sedans demonstrate their emergency handling capability and the so-called “ELK test”
For each car the image on the right side shows the avoidance test conducted with the ESP switched off.

With the Audi, only one of the cones goes flying. The driver of the 7th series has to put in a little more effort that even with the ESP off the situation never becomes tied.
The S class conducts itself flawlessly. In terms of driving safety all three are more or less in the same ball-park.

Even the differences in the breaking test aren’t that significant but of course the two meters between the stopping distances of the Mercedes and the Audi could be critical in an emergency situation and for that the A8 loses points.

At first glance the new S-class looks like a whole new model. Whether or not its tender bulges are an attractive innovation - remains up for the date.

The BMW 7th series was recently given a facelift and now appears somewhat more elegant & graceful. Key safety features at the bar shape door handles remain intact. This is something that the A8 can not match but as a consolation it shines with the reserved and pleasantly elegant design that’s making it the right choice for those who prefer a bit of an understatement.

They all also appreciate the shape of the Audi’s trunk. The new S-class has copied the tank on mook (?) of the BMW’s trunk lid. So far our comparison has yet to reveal a conclusive winner.

Now let’s talk about costs. The Mercedes not only has a higher fuel consumption in perception of price, it also packs a wallet with full coverage insurance which costs more than 5000 euros per year.

The interior layout is a matter of taste. The Audi takes a more conservative approach. The gear lever sits in the centre console. Materials, workmanship and ergonomics are first-rate. The so-called MMI operating interface is simple and logical. In addition to the ‘push-knot’ (?) there are also conventional buttons for all key functions. Equally practical are the seat adjustment controls on the lower edge of the seat.

The S-class serves a top-quality interior ‘fit and finish’. The gear selector lever is now located on a steering column. The analogue clock and air-conditioning controls are nothing new.

The operation of the control using a central node that is an improvement compared with predecessor model but it’s still not as intuitive as the Audi’s approach, however the seat adjustment controls of the door had an absolutely first grade for over 20 years. Pretty much everything in the S class is electric which almost makes it surprising that the trailer hitch still has to be extanded by hand.

The 7th series was the first BMW with a new eye-drive system. The cockpit is dominated by a large displayscreen, the instruments are easy to read, but the gear selector on the steering column takes some getting-used-to as does the eye-drive.
Here the competition does the job better.

The same applies to the seat adjustment controls with which the respective part of the seat has to be selected first and then adjusted using another button. It is as if the engineers were thinking: “Why make it simple when it can be complicated?”

In the bound for the Premium class Cup the BMW 730i only takes third place, although bright comfort and brakes are in its favour it loses ground for its drive train and controls. But it trails the competition by only a slight distance.

The Audi A8 comes in second. It shows its strengths in costs and handling although it’s lacking when it comes to comfort and driving safety.

The new Mercedes S class is the winner of the comparision, the S 350 scores consistently well in all areas while displaying hardly any weaknesses. Particularly worth mentioning are its superior comfort and excellent safety features, yet unfortunately all of this also comes as its price.

Hi Huong,

I have recently received a private message from Mohammadata and he is very greatful for our job. He is crazy about German cars and I think he was happy about your final try to complete the whole task. There is nothing better than to feel you’ve done another person a little bit happier, isn’t it?

And there are you now? I think that the members of our “Weather Club” are missing your soft and kind voice.

Hear you soon,

Yuri

Hi Yuri,

You probably mean ‘grateful’?[YSaerTTEW443543]

Hi Yuri,

Here I’m back again, thanks for reminding me of my absence for a while at the “Weather Club” ! I have been a bit busier than usual since the other day I bought some new books to read.

I have also received a message from Mohammadata showing his gratitude for both of us. Yeah, I feel good to have been of help to him

See you here around soon and have a nice day !

Huong.

Thank you, Torsten,

Of course, grateful and, of course, many mistakes (not much mistakes! as I wrote that in the previous letter). What a shame!

Greatful… This could mean ‘somebody arrogant and pompous’.

Regards,

Yuri
