Bird pair vs. bird couple

Hi,

I have four parrots. Two females and two males. I put them in two different cages to pair them. When they start liking each other, they feed each other and after a few days they start mating and laying eggs. Is the word pair correct? If it is correct, I want to write the below sentence as a title.

Signs of a confirmed parrot pair

I think ā€˜a parrot couple’ or ā€˜bird couple’ is more appropriate here.

Thank you.

So,

Is ā€œSigns of a confirmed parrot coupleā€ correct?

The question is how you define ā€˜comfirmed couple’ and what signs you are referring to. Maybe it’s better to simply say ā€˜it looks like we two of the parrots of have coupled’ or ā€˜it seems as if we have a parrot couple’.

I will write it as the title of a video. In the video, the parrots are feeding each other which is a sign that they are couple now. So, can I use ā€œSigns of a confirmed parrot coupleā€ or should I use it without ā€œconfirmedā€?

So you want to use the phrase as the title of a video? In this case you can write ā€˜How to tell when two parrots become a couple?’ for example.

Not ā€œSigns of a parrot coupleā€?

I guess it would work although there are probably better alternatives.

For me ā€˜couple’ usually indicates a human couple as in a ā€˜married couple’ ā€˜elderly couple ā€˜ ā€˜young couple’ and so on. I think you should stick to ā€˜pair’ when describing birds - perhaps - breeding pair or established pair.
