I would use this expression to describe a machine working perfectly. You could say that your car usually behaves like a little angel - suggesting that most of the time it works very well, without problems.

It may be a transatlantic difference, Eliane, but I would not compare my car to a ‘little angel’; it is not a natural utterance here. We would say ‘My car runs like a dream’.
