Before trying to use vs Before 'to try' to use

Hi,

The instructor told us to read the instructions before trying to use the machine. Is it correct to say “… before ‘to try’ to use the machine” as well?

You need ‘trying’ here because the preposition ‘before’ can’t be followed by an infinitive. By the way, welcome back :slight_smile:
