bare feet / barefoot

  1. I walked around the house in bare feet.
  2. I walked around the house in barefoot.
  3. He walked barefoot across the sand.
  4. He walked bare feet across the sand.
    Are these all correct?

Two and three are almost okay.
2. I walked barefoot around the house.
3. He walked barefoot across the sand.

You may hear people use the first one (I walked around the house in bare feet), but it is incorrect.

  1. is colloquially acceptable (I wore nothing on my feet).
  2. I walked around the house barefoot.
  3. is correct as originally written.
  4. life (1) would be acceptable if it were: He walked in bare feet across the sand.
