Attending classes optional or required?

I will really appreciate, if someone checks my essay.

Some people believe that university students should be required to attend classes. Others believe that going to classes should be optional for students. Which point of view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer.

To meet the basic needs of the students and make the education system better, universities make many policies. Whether they turn out helpful or harmful for students, is a matter of controversy. Among those policies, going to class is considered a requirement. For some people, it might be optional to attend the class, however, I totally agree and consider mandatory for the students to attend the classes. My opinion is based on academic, social and professional perspectives.

In academic life of a student, going to class plays a key role. One of the salient features is teacher. When students attend class, they are taught by the teachers, who use different techniques to help them understand the lecture. Some people may consider that going to class is a waste of time. They might think that they can better learn by themselves, reading by their own, or by consulting the books in the library. However, it is equally true that not everything is learned that is contained in the books. When we read the book, for the most part, we forget afterwards when we finish it. On the other hand, when some teacher delivers a lecture, we make notes and he explains us the questions to whom we need answer to.

Going to class, students learn to socialize with their class mates. They participate in group presentations, share their ideas and polish their hidden abilities. This initiative in not only helpful in their educational career but also brings fruitful results in future. For example, working in a group gives a lesson of teamwork, which plays an important role for an employee working in an institute or company. Moreover, companies welcome those employees who work as a part of team. On contrary, those students who bunk classes and think that going to classes is optional, are deprived of the benefits of teamwork.

On the top, when a student completes his education, he enters the professional field. There he is supposed to be responsible, and act like a professional. He has to be disciplined, well aware of the time management and others aspects that a professional life demands from him. More precisely speaking, classes meet this criteria. Coming in time and keeping in mind the class decorum, fulfill the needs of a professional. On the other hand, those students who skip the classes , they become care free and can not be able to manage time for their daily chores.

In a nutshell, to reap the benefits of lecture delivered by the teacher, enhancing social interaction with class mates and learning to manage time and be disciplined is only possible with going to the class, not considering them as an option.
