at my work vs. at my job

Hi, is there any difference between ‘at my work’ and ‘at my job’?

Many thanks,

Hi Torsten,

I wouldn’t use ‘at my work’. I would say ‘at work’ or ‘at my place of work’. (suggesting the location)

‘At my job’ I can only think of in this context: I am very good at my job (suggesting ‘doing my job well’).

Thanks Alan, Thant was useful.

I have this strange impression (can’t very explaining it) that we don’t tend to describe our own occupation as job; more often than not we would, as Alan have suggested, we say “at work…” or maybe “I work as a…”.

As for using “job”, I could only think of using it in terms of “my/his/her job is to…” or “let’s get the job done”.

Sorry for the long-winded explanations, but I rarely hear people around me use “job”, especially with “at”.

I could feel something is wrong with what I said but can’t really figure out, I hope someone can correct where my explanation went wrong.

Thanks!
