Are the following 2 both the same in meaning? If so, which is common?
A: Our world is getting smaller all the time.
B: Our world is getting smaller at all times.
Just my reasoning.
Both can mean ‘continuously, without interruption’.
- ‘He plays chess all the time’.
100% disk usage all the time
That old fridge of ours is running all the time.
- You must keep your passport handy at all times when you are traveling in a foreign country.
At the airport Mary was warned to keep her carry-on bag in sight at all times.
High Disk Usage at all times
The service that you’re supposed to keep running at all times so…
–My gut feeling tells me ‘all the time’ is more appropriate when talking about changes, while both ‘at all times’ and ‘all the time’ are good when dealing with the existing state or condition.
In your example, I’d only use ‘all the time’.
