What was your reaction to know about the Benazir Bhutto’s murder if there was any?

I was shocked and saddened. Benazir Bhutto was a classy lady and a woman of great courage.

Apparently, there are some cowardly criminals who felt extremely threatened by her and by the fact that she had a lot of supporters.

Right that is. Politicians in many countries live a life as hazardous as rock stars (for different reasons though).

What was your reaction to know about the Benazir Bhutto’s murder if there was any?

Strangely enough, my first thought was humorous. I thought, “Oh, no! Now I’ll NEVER marry her!” (Tom, you and I have discussed our youthful fascination with Hedy Lamar, but I didn’t tell you I had a similar fascination with Benazir Bhutto when I was younger.)

Then I was disgusted by the savagery of some of the people walking the earth. The horror of the whole situation really hit me hard when I read this:

The next to last assassination attempt on Benazir Bhutto came on Dec. 13, when a man in the crowd got the former prime minister’s attention. He was holding a 1-year-old baby – Bhutto said later she thought it was a girl – and tried to hand the child across the sea of bodies. Bhutto said, “He kept trying to hand it to people to hand to me. I’m a mother. I love babies. But the [streetlights] had already gone out and I was worried about the baby getting dropped or hurt.” So she turned away and ducked into her armored vehicle. Just then, the baby’s body, rigged with explosives, detonated.

Tom, you and I have talked about our youthful crushes on Heddy Lamar, and I hope you’re sitting down when I tell you this. When I was younger (or more accurately, when she was younger) I had a very bad crush on Benezir Bhutto!

Her English, from what I’ve heard of it, is nearly perfect. She has that Pakistani accent, but a Hindi or Urdu accent is considered one of the ordinary accents of near-native English, as long as it’s not too thick

but i do feel sorry for her death…
