There’s nothing wrong with this:
With this, either.
Which makes me wonder why you decided it was necessary to add it to message #3.
Which makes me also wonder why you decided it was necessary to add it to message #4.
I didn’t. You seem to be a little confused.
Both of us wrote the same sentence as correct; you in #2 and I in #3. Then, why confusion?
I really don’t know why you are confused. It’s probably something to do with the fact that you quoted the sentence ‘She asked for their forgiveness…’ as if you were correcting it when i had already been corrected and then you introduced a completely different sentence.
You feign ignorance of truth or deliberately disregard the fact. Why don’t you agree that you accepted my version (3a. She asked for their forgiveness/help.) as your answer in #2 (3a. She asked for their forgiveness/help). Why didn’t you stick to one type, i.e, either 3a or 3b? If you have realized your mistake now, you shouldn’t be answering this response.
Nowadays as an occasional visitor I invariably see the bright pink avatar of Bev involved in spat after spat after spat. Isn’t it about time you took a ‘sabbatical’ and let posters make comments without fear of reprisals? Just a thought. But then how naive of me not to realise I am bound to get a ‘Not me guv’ response.
I’m not the one making the mistake.
As you say you are an ‘occasional’ visitor, and probably summoned to intervene various threads by private message, perhaps you should see how biased your viewpoint is. You won’t see the arguments stretch beyond two individuals other than yourself.
I’d also have thought you’d have given up on commenting upon avatars and identities, given your more recent stance.
You are the only one making mistakes and beating about the bush! Everything or everyone has a limit; you have transgressed it. So, you had better go on a ‘sabbatical’ or get lost!
Oh dear, Lawrence! By picking up my comment you will simply feed Beverley’s paranoia that we are talking about her behind her back. Perish the very idea. Anyhow by my calculation we’ll have to wait at least another two years before a genuine sabbatical is needed. Never mind, as Horace says: Pede poena claudo if my ‘S’ level Latin serves me right.
My, we are pinning our agendas to the mast this afternoon, aren’t we.
No paranoia, Alan. Just an observation based on my experience.
No paranoia, Alan. Just an observation based on my experience.
Experience? The paranoia deepens.
…, and probably summoned to intervene various threads by private message, …
This is just a criminal allegation born out of natural frustration, for which no penance!
By the way, Alan, could you explain this:
Pede poena claudo if my ‘S’ level Latin serves me right.
It is Greek to me.

Criminal allegation!

poena/punishment (alternatively ‘vengeance’)
LOL.
Perhaps you both ought to stop now. The statements are becoming increasingly preposterous.

By the way, Alan, could you explain this:‘Pede poena claudo’
From Horace Odes, a Roman poet, Punishment is personified as one of the Furies.
I’m more interested in Alan’s ‘calculations’ regarding two years hence. I have no idea where he gets that from. It sounds as if he is some sort of soothsayer. Either that or an assassin who is busy for the next 24 months.
Either way, I’m not planning to fret about it.
