What do you think is the right version of the saying:

  1. As God as my witness I will never drive anyone of my family any place ever again.
  2. As God is my witness I will never drive anyone of my family any place ever again.

Has everyone in your family suddenly become a notorious backseat driver or something? :lol:

I would only use ‘is’ in your sentence:

  • As God is my witness, …

However, I have also heard this on occasion:

  • With God as my witness, …

  • anyone in my family

Answering your question, I heard this expression on the sitcom “Married with Children”, but I must’ve a little misheard it.

(But also keep in mind that it is not uncommon in spoken English for people to end up changing gears in mid-sentence, or to be thinking one thing while saying another with the end result that the two things can end up as an unintentional combination, etc.)
