article for 'credit crisis'

Hi,

I read sentence #1 in the media. I don’t understand why there is no article before ‘credit crisis’ the way it is used in the sentence #2.

[color=blue]1. We are definitely in a perfect storm right now. We have credit crisis, we have economic malaise and we have inflation, those are not very good prospects going forward for equity markets or bond markets.

  1. Just before the credit crisis hit, Fitch estimates losses on RMBS could be as high as 26%.

Thanks,

MG

Hi musicgold

Assuming that the missing article is not simply a typo, I’d say the writer might have been looking at “credit crisis” as a general type of condition rather than as one specific condition. The writer could also have used the indefinite article ‘a’.
