Hi,

Are the following sentences natural to a native ear?

[color=blue]1. And, that basically what it would be. ( I was talking about how things would play out for a project)

  1. That one has to be the joke of the year.

  2. These systems people are encircling us. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had another person tomorrow in the cube opposite me. (Office talk. I was talking with a colleague about how our systems department was hiring more and more people and how we were seeing new faces popping up everyday)

  1. doesn’t make perfect sense. Possibly you mean to say:
    And that, basically, is what it would be like.

  2. is fine.

3 in the context you have given is fine. I’m glad you gave the context, otherwise the semantics of the sentence would have confused me.
