Are 80 Points on TOEFL IBT a lot?

Need your help…

I do not know what to think about 80 Points IBT, is this a lot?

I just practiced the listening section and I am worried about the writing section. But there is no enough time for practicing because I have to do it as fast as possible, so I don’t know what to think how I gone do it.

Well, the maximum is 120, so 80 points is about 75% of the total. So I will go with - Yes it is a huge difference. A difference of about 30 points is the gap between top schools and not being accepted at all. My advice is write, write, write and then again write. There is always time!

Hi Jelena,

I don’t think 80 points is a very good score. Many universities require minimum 80 points in TOEFL. If you practice well it is very easy to score more than 80 points. In my opinion, one should try to score more than that.

I think, 80 points is 2/3rd of total score which is 66.67% and it turns out to be much less than 75% or 90 points out of total 120.

@Vinchenz,

I am fine with 80 Points because I already have a scholarship and I am accepted at the University, I just need the Toefl test to show them and they said that 80 points are enough. Because I will actually study in German :wink:

But I will do my best to get as much as possible :wink: I am only worried about the writing part…

Hey, I personally think it all depends on your requirement. Which university you intend to go to and whats their score requirement. All the best to you.
