Appropriate English grammer book for me?

Professor’s(Alan, Torsten, Milanya, Cerberus, Mister Micawber, ESL expert, and all members…),

Please help me in choosing an appropriate English grammer book. I am looking for a complete package that should have:

-Easy-to-use language with detailed, clear, and step-by-step coverage on all grammer topics with examples.
-Should be good for all levels- Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced.
-Should have extra stuff like: Vocabulary, Idioms, Phrasal verbs, Dialects etc/ Extra stuff for non-native speakers.
-Self-study and practice exercises.
-Speaking English stuff, or please suggest a separate book to enhance your speaking English.
-English grammer games or fun activities.

One of my friend is visiting US currently. I’ll ask her to purchase one for me, only, if you guys can suggest, as I can hardly find any good book in my country.

Please mind some other points that I missed above.

Many thanks!

I like Kaplan Grammar Power, Third edition for a print book (you can get this on Amazon if you like), or, if you want to start now, ebooks can be really helpful (and more affordable).

I used Winners’ Guide to SAT Grammar & Improving Sentences at [u]SAT 1, SAT Books, 2200+ SAT Preparation Strategy @ MY-SAT.com.

Good luck!

Please help me in choosing an appropriate English gramm[color=red]ar book. I am looking for a complete package that should have:

-Easy-to-use language with detailed, clear, and step-by-step coverage on all gramm[color=red]ar topics with examples. [color=darkred]I like Practical English Usage by Michael Swan

-Should be good for all levels- Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced. [color=darkred]Basic Grammar in Use, Essential Grammar in Use, Advanced Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy.

-Should have extra stuff like: Vocabulary, Idioms, Phrasal verbs, Dialects etc/ Extra stuff for non-native speakers. [color=darkred]I am not sure you can find all this in one single book. I read a lot to improve vocabulary, and use Cambridge Dictionaries on Line for idioms and phrasal verbs (it includes The Cambridge International Dictionary of Idioms and Cambridge International Dictionary of Phrasal Verbs) and other dictionaries too.

-Self-study and practice exercises. [color=darkred]http://www.english-test.net/
-Speaking English stuff, or please suggest a separate book to enhance your speaking English.
-English gramm[color=red]ar games or fun activities.

Thank you for correcting that silly mistake. I actually realized it too late. I’ll not repeat it again.

Torsten, can you recommend some good English grammar books?

-Should be good for all levels- Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced. Basic Grammar in Use, Essential Grammar in Use, Advanced Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy.

I’ll second that opinion Milanya.

Bill.

Hi, I recommend you read this: english-test.net/lessons/index.html

and this: english-test.net/lessons/1/index.html

and any of the grammar information on our site. Grammar is an integral part of language and there are no real ‘grammar books’ because no book can ‘teach you grammar’. What you really need is a system that helps you use English as a means of communication. Learning grammar is only a useful by-product of this process.

Also, you should read this: english-test.net/esl/lesson- … ammar.html
