Anything vs Everything

Hi,

“If we can survive that, we can survive anything!”.

Wouldn’t be more correct to say “… EVERYthing!”.

Thanks a lot for your help. Bye bye

I found these online:

Anything is a pronoun that can refer to any object, event or matter. You’ll use it when you’re unable to be specific or have no intention of being so.

  1. The thief will steal anything that isn’t nailed down.
  2. You asked me what I wanted for Christmas, but I couldn’t think of anything.
  3. John was so hungry, he ate everything on his plate.

Everything can also mean an essential fact.

1.Mary’s friendship meant everything to Frank.
2. Eveything in this store have to be sold.

“anything” would be more usual here. It means “any unspecified things that might occur”. “everything” tends to suggest that the speaker has specific things in mind, but it is not such an idiomatic pattern.
