among vs. between

Can we say:

The fight was between Mark, Dave and Joe? Yes or No?

“The fight was ‘among’ Mark, Dave and Joe” sounds weird in this context.

Thanks.

The fight was among Mark, Dave and Joe.
Is this grammatically incorrect?

Are these samples all fine?

Hi,

I would say “the fight was between Mark, Dave and Joe” if there were two sides in the fight (Mark and Dave fought together)
I would say “the fight was among Mark, Dave and Joe” if they were fighting one another.
