i think word “[color=darkred]permeate” is not a every day using word for the second example i provide. it sounds to me like a science word. am i correct ? if i’m what are the alternative word that i can use instead of word “[color=darkred]permeate”.
The rain [color=darkred]permeated through/into the soil.
The smell of baking bread is [color=darkred]permeating the kitchen
also i used word “alternative” to ask this question. is it good to put there. ?
There’s nothing wrong with the usage of permeating in either sentence. It can have a scientific sense, depending on context, but it’s acceptable to use it in non-scientific contexts too.
Your use of ‘alternative’ is okay, but the sentence is not quite grammatical and I suggest:
If I am, what alternative word can I use …
Note that in the phrase ‘if I am’ when it stands alone, ‘I am’ is not abbreviated to ‘I’m’.
If I am. - no abbreviation
If I am right / if I’m right
If I am annoying you / If I’m annoying you
etc.
