Adverb modifiers

Hi,

I read this line in an internal memo. My question is regarding the phrase highlighted in bold. I see many people using it, but I feel that an ‘in’ or ‘with’ should go before the phrase. If people are using it as an adverb modifier, shouldn’t it be separated from the main clause by a comma?

[color=blue]Some of our staff have been having problems connecting to the Morning Call over the past couple of days.

Thanks,

MG.

Hi,

I think this is similar to: ‘I have difficulty getting up early’. You could add ‘in’ after ‘difficulty’ but I don’t think it’s necessary.

Hi

It is possible to use with if we were to use “connection”;

……with connection to the……

Omission of the preposition from a phrasal is quite problematic in itself.
