Accommodation in the UK or Ireland?

Hi,

There is this German couple who want to improve their English. They are planning to spend a week in the UK or Ireland and are looking for accommodation and maybe a special program that forces them to use their English as much as possible. Of course there are lots of language courses available but maybe you have other ideas and suggestions?

Many thanks,
Torsten[YSaerTTEW443543]

Hi

They could try doing voluntary work, for an organization such as Worcester Lifestyles or Scope.

This way they get to use English amongst other nationalities, as well as a challenging project.

You get help with relocating, and a basic living wage. The projects are usually of a set minimum period, a week is quite short.

The bigger organizations like Scope may offer such short stays.

Or if they have a minimum of intermediate level spoken English, try a summer camp as a leisure activities assistant.

These guys also have a school in Weymouth, where I worked some summers ago.
Back then I lived with a French guy that was running the sports and leisure activities; his English was Upper Intermediate.
They could give it a whirl.
If they have no luck, try www.tefl.com many similar positions are offered on this portal.

There is this German couple who [color=red]wants to improve their English. .

You are right Molly, the noun ‘couple’ is usually treated as plural so “the couple want to improve their English” is much better than my original sentence. Many thanks for pointing this out.[YSaerTTEW443543]

That’s OK, Torsten , but wouldn’t it be a good idea to edit the original?
