Hi Trainers,
Is it okay to use my Nasal Sound to speak English just to have an Accent?
Some of the Pinoys ( people who leave in the Philippines ) sound nasal and we do believe that it is an Accent.

Hi,
What do you mean by ‘nasal sound’?
Alan
I am really sorry Sir Allan, I really can’t explain it. Something like your voice is comming out from your nose.
Thank you so much! =)
Hi,
I’m afraid that ‘Thomaslues’ had no real interest in answering your question. He just saw an opportunity to post some spam for an external website. His original message has been removed, and I suggest that you don’t pay much attention to his answer,
Like Alan, I would like to be more clear exactly what you are asking about.
Are you saying you want to imitate an accent by using a nasal sound? What accent are you trying to imitate?
Personally, I think you should speak English with your own natural accent and concentrate on being clear and easy to understand. There is no need to put on a fake accent. Just be yourself.
Yes Ma’am I would want to imitate an American accent by using a nasal sound, however based on your suggestion, I had better use my natural accent. I really appreciate your effort answering my concerns. Godspeed.
I suspect that a false nasal sound will be more irritating to a listener than your own natural accent, Juliusestella.
Just concentrate on speaking with clarity and appropriate intonnation.
Are you sure you don’t mean “nasal consonants”?
There are two nasal consonants: “n” and “m”.
You can find many videos on youtube on these consonants and how to produce them:

Thank you so much Ma’am for your suggestion. I will follow it.
I think something like when we sing. We all know if the voice is comming from the diaphragm or from the nose. I am so sorry. Really, I can’t explain it.
Thank you for giving me the site.
I understand exactly what you mean, Juliustella.
Singing ‘nasally’ is also frowned upon.
Hello Bev,
Thank you for raising the alert on ‘Thomaslues’ spam posting.
Your advice is very important not to imitate others accent. You pronounced rightly that one should speak English with his own natural accent and concentrate on being clear and easy to understand.

I didn’t exactly ‘raise the alert’. I just removed it, but as there had been a response to it, I had to explain.
Hello Bev,
It’s even better that ‘Thomaslues’ spam posting was already removed by you.
My emphasis is on to speaking with clarity and with appropriate intonation. I’m curious if I’ve clear understanding on how to practice to acquire appropriate intonation. I’d ask you to have your comments on the intonation found on my voice records.
Best regards,
Mujibur
Hi Mujibu
I’ve listened to your recordings, the comments are in my recording.

Hello CaseofInsanity!
Thank you for your comments on my pronunciation, accent and intonation. I want a favor from you to write down the text of your above message as I couldn’t follow your recorded voice in full. There might be some important and interesting points for me there which would be of much help for improving my speaking skills. I’ve observed by following your posts that you’re taking lot of interest on English pronunciation. This is really a crucial area an English learner should pay attention to. You’re most welcome to contribute in this important arena as far as possible.
Best regards,
Mujibur
Thank for understanding Ma’am,
