About to come

Hi all,

Please tell me the correct option else give the correct answer.

Option1: My brother about to come this weekend.
Option2: My brother going to come this weekend.

Thanks
Vinoth

I think this option sounds better:

My brother is coming this weekend.

Option 1 and option 2 are ungrammatical (the word is is missing from both).

Hi ,

Thank you very much for your replay. Can you please tell me now.

Option1: My brother is about to come this week end.
Option2: My brother is going to come this week end.

Is this options are correct?

Thanks
Vinoth

Option 1 is just wrong (because you mentioned “this weekend”).
Option 2 sounds much better.
But it’s my opinion that “my brother is coming this weekend” is the best choice.

Thank you very much!..

One more question…
May be this week end my brother can come. — Is this correct?

Thanks
Vinoth

Maybe this weekend my brother can come.

(Notice that ‘maybe’ and ‘weekend’ are both single words.)

I agree that present continuous is he best choice as this sounds more like an arrangement than an intention. But could you tell me the difference between ‘be about to’ and ‘be going to’?

is about to come… his arrival is imminent.
As Tort said, he can’t be about to come this weekend, he can be about to come any minute.
is going to come… his arrival will take place at some time which is unspecified (unless you specify it in the next phrase).

Thank you for the clear explanations.
