a vegetarian VS vegetarian

Howdy,

She’s vegetarian but she eats chicken

Why isn’t there an “a” in front of “vegetarian” ? [/i]

It’s an adjective.

She’s American.
She’s anemic.
She’s vegetarian.

But can I say “She’s a vegetarian” Would it make a difference?

Only in that vegetarian would no longer be an adjective, but a noun.

I thought these are almost the same meaning, but we usually use “a” plus “vegetarian”

hoping this is helpful~

Hello Chioemail and Tommark – and welcome to English-test. We do not necessarily use the noun more than the adjective. Both have their uses.
