A live performance vs. television broadcast

Hi, Kitos. Could you check it? Thankssssss

With the development of technology people have started asking a question what is better: to attend a live performance or to watch a television broadcast? Although both of them have own pros and cons, I would better stay at home and watch an event on TV, because it is more convenient and economical.

Certainly, attending a performance like a concert, a play or a sports event is amazing, because you go out, see new faces and share emotions. It is exciting to be in the company of the people with the same interest, to laugh and sob together. Furthermore, going to a theater or a stadium, you get unforgettable impressions and influence on performers by reacting to their act with applause, gestures and interjections. Therefore, you more or less make your contribution to a performance.
However, the advantages of watching an event on TV surpass those of attending a live performance. First of all, watching an event at home is more convenient. The only thing you need is a TV set in your apartment. You do not have to stand in a queue to acquire a ticket, to look for a parking lot or to wait for a proper bus because of heavy traffic. Second, you are free at home. You can drink or even eat something, sit or lie in front of TV, whereas in public place you have to behave correspondingly in order not to bother anybody. If you could not find a ticket for a seat in the frontline, you would have to sit in the back and try to concentrate on the performance. Moreover, it is a little risky to go a stadium, because clashes between fans are not rare. Last but not least, at home you get additional information or background regarding an event that help you understand it better, but in a live performance you mainly count on yourself.

Admittedly, by watching an event on TV you save your money and time. If you do not get out, you cut down on your expenses for a ticket, fuel or fair, and parking. You need pay for only electricity. At the same time, you do not waste your time on road, and even choose the time relatively suitable for you to watch it. For example, if you are busy at the time of a performance, you can watch a repeat display/demonstration later. In addition, if you are not satisfied with an event, you can merely turn off a TV set and do not waste your time.

Taking into account all of the abovementioned factors, I choose staying at home, because it is more comfortable and beneficial. Why to spend your energy, money and time, when you can make do without these sacrifices?

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Television, newspaper, magazine, and other media pay too much attention to the personal lives of famous people such as public figures and celebrities. Use specific reasons and detail to explain your opinion?

Ans: present scenario electric media as well as print media they pay attention on celebrities and public figures for their PRP rates. However they have lack of competition from regional and non regional. This competition obviously going to side track.
Media have many rights but they are misusing .they can play key role between people and government, for example in my country ten percent students every going to suicide because of stress, competitions this time media can play motivational clips to aware them . But they concentrating On celebrities appoint making new program, it is entirely wrong decision Moreover they broad casting vulgar statements as well as pictures of celebrities. Whoever watching television (especially teenagers) will be edit their culture they become road side roomies.
By conclusion media they are not concentrating on problems on earth, they are competitors for getting celebrities personal life .i disagree with too much attention on this.

good essay,nice work

You should only produce a counter argument if instructed to do so.Producing a counter argument unbidden might cost you points, and would certainly eat up your allotted time, perhaps to no avail.

Hi, everyone

Thanks, Kitos. Your are very kind and patient. I’m not sure I could stand so many mistakes and questions in your place

Udaymca, according to this website’s rules you should open a new topic for rating your essay . Just click on the button “new topic” in the essay section and paste your essay there.

Coolapple and Kitos, what do you mean under contra argument? The advantages of a live performance? I never paid much attention to instruction, should I?

best regards

Hi Remula,
I’ve read some sample essays that get a high score in IELTS as well as TOEFL pBT, but, perhaps there is a big difference between IELTS and TOEFL. The IELTS questions often go like this: To what extent do you agree or disagree with the following statement…, whilst the TOEFL iBT questions often go like this: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement. The difference in here is: “To what extent”!^^ In GMAT essay, the questions always need counter-argument part, maybe in the first body paragraph or the last one, in order to make your argument essays stronger^^. For example, you agree with the idea that building a new restaurant in your neighborhood is a good ideas, but the opponents disagree with you. You should firstly agree with them since there are still a lots of disadvantages of erecting a new restaurant, but after that you can counter their argument by stating the advantages outweigh the disadvantages or the disadvantages are not totally the bad ones…
Hope this will help you Remula^^
@ Kistos: Thank you for your precious advice:) Honestly, jotting down a couple of counter-argument sentences is not time-consuming and doesn’t matter with me, but I don’t want to go off-track. Thanks again, MM(MY MENTOR)

Thanks for information, Coolapple

I thought essays were the same everywhere
